Recently totally renovated with a new interior and a new name. (Back in the 80’s it was a proper wine bar called the Grape Escape, then it changed it’s name to just The Grape morphing into more of a cocktail/beer drinker’s bar slipping gradually over time from it’s former glory days).
Happily I’d say the current manifestation is a good one, friendly vibrant staff and a thoroughly good interiors refurbishment including a few sofas to relax in. The music is always chilled, there’s plenty of choice of food, you can pop in for an early morning breakfast (full welsh breakfast was excellent), teas and decent coffees, cakes muffins etc or there are plenty to choose from on the boards including daily specials. The tapas was very nice, burgers and soup good, however we did have a rather over cooked turkey dinner from the specials board which was very disappointing.
