Kittiwell House is the shining example of a B&B that looks nice on the website, not so great in real life… First impressions, a lovely Devon longhouse. A roaring fire welcomed us in the reception where a friendly girl checked us in. She went on to inform us that they’d be no staff there that night because they’re all going out (fair enough) and showed us to our room.
Euuyuk! Some clever photography me thinks! Tired decor, old furniture, and the bathroom ! Avocado suite circa 1970. We grinned and bared it. Later that night we heard footsteps on the stairs and jokingly hid under the bedclothes half expecting someone to smash through the door screaming, here’s………Jonny!!!!! It looked like they were in the middle of redecorating the place – stripped walls etc – so hopefully it’s better now (!?) but I don’t think we’ll be going back!
