Hotel Endsleigh is situated near a small village called Milton Abbot on Dartmoor near Tavistock. First impressions were great, driving down the long drive through the country estate to the gravel drive parking area (always nice!). Hotel Endsleigh is a collection of grade 1 listed buildings  originally designed in the 18th century as a  hunting lodge.

In the entrance was a roaring log fire and very helpful staff. The room was very tastefully decorated and comfortable. The bathroom was lovely, enormous bath and rain shower. There were lots of beautiful rooms to lounge in all with fabulous views of the surrounding countryside and river at the bottom of the valley. Outside among many other features in the huge estate  which we didn’t have time to explore, was the little formal garden specifically scaled down to child sized proportions including gravity moat for floating paper boats on, and funnily enough that’s exactly what the eight year old with us did before we read the brochure! The barman made us some lovely pre-dinner cocktails and a non- alcoholic one for our nephew. Dinner was outstanding from start to finish absolutely top notch! Breakfast was equally delicious. The staff on leaving were again exceptional right down to asking if we wanted any water for our journey – how thoughtful! This place is probably the most tranquil and all round combination of excellence I have ever experienced anywhere and would definitely go back.
